The Prescription Is Home is a podcast about home as medicine, and the companion show to the exhibition of the same name. Each episode enters a household, listens for the capacities already practiced there, and leaves with a prescription the world can use.
Mēlani N. Douglass
Mēlani N. Douglass is a multidisciplinary creative entrepreneur and socially engaged artist whose practice treats home as the first institution. A 4th-generation herbalist, she works from a lineage of women who kept the remedies, the record, and the door open.
She is the founder of the Family Arts Museum, through which she produces exhibitions, gatherings, and media that return authority to households and the communities they hold up.

An immersive visual arts exhibition reimagining home as a site of healing, cultural preservation, and collective transformation. Rooted in Anacostia and communities east of the Anacostia River, the exhibition gathers photographs, objects, and household archives into rooms you can walk through — positioning home as the place where belonging is enacted through participation, not paperwork.
